Agent Morgan said...

Maybe I've been watching too much Criminal Minds.

But here's one reason why, from the myriad of others I might cover on other days--

Father Marks:
What happened to you?
(beat)
Only someone who gre up with religion could have
so much contempt for a priest he hardly knows.

Agent Morgan:
When I was a kid, something bad was happening to me.
And I went to church everyday.
And I prayed. Oh I prayed for it to stop.
You know what God did?
Nothin'.

(pause)

Father Marks:
...He never gives us more than we can handle--

Agent Morgan:
Your God expects too much of 13 year old boys.

trench poetry 2009

trench poetry, i think, is not exclusive to World War II.

because if you've ever felt like you've been stuck forever somewhere harsh
with nothing to do but everything else for everyone else.
then hoping to get some rest after a shift--
but the bombing in the periphery goes on and you can't ever seem to get used to it.
maybe after a bottle or two it gets a little easier..

then either
a) BOOM. a metaphorical modern day artillery shell lands right in your lap. and you wonder why it had to be today. then you realize its today, because every other day it was someone else anyway.

OR

b) you wake up to the same things again, only with a hangover. then you tell yourself as you scrub the grime and dried blood from your shoes and helmet: i can get through this. i can, and after this war i'm gonna be a fucking hero.

In this case, not understanding what I mean may actually be a good thing.
So don't worry about it.

notes to self

  1. funny how my blogs from the jurrassic era till now look practically the same.

  2. do something about it then.

  3. if you have an urge to blog about work, please google "hara-kiri" before hand.

  4. i always have a this borderline ocd urge to write everything about everything. who the hell do i think cares?

  5. you know, i really shouldn't have done that last night. made me feel like crap this morning, which made work a bitch. i couldn't get anything done for 2 hours. which of course meant...

  6. Hara-kiri, which literally means "stomach cutting" is a particularly painful method of self-destruction, and prior to the emergence of the samurai as a ...

  7. learn from the Belle-- long expositions about everything does not a good blog make. since w**k constitutes the vast majority of my time and limited brain capacity, this should be easy.

  8. yeah. sure.

parlez vous belle de jour?

i think it was years ago ian mentioned a certain uk blogger who shot to virtual superstardom.
she operates by the nom de plume of belle de jour.

i think i remember reading her back when i was blogging furiously.
please just google her, but in short- she's a london call girl with an incredible knack for writing.
intelligent, sexy, classy, candid and word-to-the-wise witty. if glen duncan and candice bushnell had some form of literary shenanigans, this would be the offspring i suppose.

anyways--
even back them she had already been awarded by some or the other for best written blog of the year, and already had a book published (which is her blog compiled basically. yes its that good, dear)

i couldn't find the book anywhere back then-- but hey presto-- claire and i stumbled upon her, get this, third book.
so claire, babe, thanks for the belated birthday present ;)

maan. i do love the Bri'ish. the literature, the comedy, the wit, the accent, the weather even.

what was the whole point of that?
got me to wondering how i have been planning for ages to blog.
if for nothing more than much needed cathartic self-therapy.

which got me to dusting off cyber-cobwebs from this place and blabbing away.

which got me to here..

which then got me to wondering how the hell this post should end.
