Eurotrip: 2 days away and discombobulated

i think i'm a sucker for readers.
How's that for honesty? Not an ego thing here-- just that i prefer dialogues to monologues.

Claire and I have been planning this Eurotrip since mid-year 2009. It's bloody 2 days away and not all of it has sunk in yet.

Boy, it's all happening isn't it? Gee.

Could be the fact that work just kept piling up-- especially now since i'm gonna leave on that proverbial jet plane. But now, in not ignoring my work, i am effectively ignoring my preparation.
I do, at this point, entirely expect that i would find a key instrument of survival missing in my pack when i need it most, likely somewhere over the South China Sea an hour into my flight.

But hey, what's an adventure when you have a toothbrush right where you want it eh?

Technically, i know what to expect. Amsterdam, Rome, Paris and London. Suure. Eeeassy.
Fundamentally though, i have no fucking clue. Which is kinda cool. I am sure, however, that Claire is absolutely the best person to take this trip with.

Unlike what some would think though, this trip isn't entirely about fun. I do have things i need the distance, time and space to think about. Call it a quarter-life crisis, but i'm not sure i am where i want to be. things are going well, but i have this feeling i ought to be somewhere else already. but where?

i need, also, to finish the damn script. enough of having great ideas that never cross the finishing line. i have to get it written before i return.

and last but definitely not the least-- i need a break. which kinda ties in with the first point. but i. really. need. a. break.

2 weeks and a half in europe may not seem like the adventure of a lifetime. but somehow to me, with the pace of things, and the time in life, it kinda is. i truly wish i had more time to just give this trip the attention its worth. read, and at times re-read, the history, culture and art in the places we go. pack my toothbrush. know people in advance in each city. have more money. pack an extra toothbrush. that kinda thing.

but this won't be my last long trip. i hope.

what am i on about-- i haven't started this one yet.

geronimo.
